Whilst working at Farrells, an opportunity arose to take art classes after work, based around learning to use oil paints, a medium I wanted to adapt to use. Having only used acrylic so far, the technique and process of using oil is slightly complicated, particularly with mixing the mediums and thinners to different levels on each layers. The source image, from Saigon, was chosen as a study to inform a painting I am currently in the process of composing. This provided a valuable opportunity to test out oils which is a medium I am keen to move into whilst also test the colour and stroke movement that would suit the photographed scene.
